"There's No Place Like Home"

"There’s No Place Like Home” is a ministry of

Grace Community Church, committed to bringing

together a nation wide effort to help

rebuild homes after natural or catastrophic disasters.

"There's No Place Like Home" seeks joint projects with school, community, church and other organizations that are building or otherwise providing homes.
The journey to that new home is what "There's No Place Like Home" is all about.  House #1, delivered in 2006 used a team of volunteers to raise funds for the materials to build the home.  It then used another team to construct the home. The home was then transported to the site, assembled and finally handed over to the LaBeouf family upon completion by another team of volunteers.  Many of these volunteers are involved in each phase from start to finish.

During the construction process, "There's No Place Like Home" has enlisted the aid of Somersworth Career and Technical Center in Somersworth, NH.  The students involved in the Building Trades Program assembled the home and prepared it for its journey.  The new Hampshire National guard then transported the home to Cutt Off, Louisiana where it was assembled by a team of volunteers(which included several student volunteers on school vacation)and handed over.

"There's No Place Like Home" has enlisted the aid of United States Congressmen and average folks alike to make a difference in the lives of others.  It unselfishly promotes a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.  There are no names to print, just the efforts of those motivated by the Grace of God to help others in their biggest time of need.

"Theres No Place Like Home" has had great success in its first year.  The first home was completed and funded through contributions made by individuals and corporations.  Funds were raised the old-fashioned way...company's and individuals were asked for help and they responded in overwhelming fashion.  House #1 is paid for and debt-free.

"There's No Place Like Home" is proud of its relationships. Students helping others while learning a trade is our vision. It  is the goal of "There's No Place Like Home" to enlist and support High School and Secondary School Building Trades Programs throughout America by raising funds and providing a template for them and /or other groups to follow for the construction of these much needed homes.

"There's No Place Like Home" is a mentor.  One student who worked on House #1 eventually graduated and went to work for a board member who is also a local builder in the community. It's relationships like this and the positive results of bringing people together that motivate "There's No Place Like Home".

"There's No Place Like Home" is nurturing. No one there will ever forget the look in the eyes of the family who received house #1.  A little girl who was afraid to sleep alone in her room because of the ensuing fire from Hurricane Katrina found a friend in another board member whom she trusted and admired.

"There's No Place Like Home" is committed to integrity and loyalty.  Board members are volunteers.  There are no employees at this time.  100% of the support to date has gone into the homes.  There is no waste.  "There's No Place Like Home" is also committed to supporting the donors who have supported them.  As donations and support money becomes available, "There's No Place Like Home" will purchase from those who stood by them to make these homes a reality.
