Does the expression, “There’s no place like house,” make sense to you? How about, “House is where the heart is”? They don't make sense at all. Perhaps they even sound uncomfortable. But just change the word house to home and immediately your feelings change. What if in blink of an eye, it were all taken away? No more home to go to. No safe haven. No sense of family. Not to mention the loss of memories and the financial burden placed upon you. Do you, even now, begin to feel a bit differently? Perhaps even a bit scared at the possibility? How would you deal with that? There’s No Place Like Home Our wish is that you never find yourself in that situation. However, we exist because thousands of people are dealing with exactly that as you read this letter. The recent results of several disasters has taken people just like you, secure in their homes, and changed their lives by wiping out the very structure they lived in. In many cases, they do not have the means to repair, rebuild, or replace what they’ve lost. We’re changing that one family at a time. “There’s No Place Like Home,” is a non-profit, faith-based organization formed in early 2006. Our mission is to facilitate the building of houses for families to turn into homes. These people lack the resources to rebuild on their own after unforeseen disasters like Hurricane Katrina. Like anything in life worthwhile, it isn’t easy. But, it’s simple. With the help of people like you, we are raising funds to support contractors, civic, and other faith-based organizations to construct modular homes and ship them to the affected areas. We also coordinate local volunteers to assemble the homes once they reach their final destination. While no organization can be all things to all people, we’ve developed an area of focus to find specific people who qualify for our assistance. Selected families must meet the following criteria: 1. They must own their land. |
